Abortion Pill : Teenagers and the Pill

Abortion Pill

Has your teenage daughter lately shown signs such as increased weight, headaches, mood swings, menstrual irregularities, dizziness or nausea? These are amongst some of the minor side effects of taking the contraceptive known as The Pill.

Perhaps the doctor has prescribed the oral contraceptive to relieve her period pain or improve her skin and it is taken primarily as a medication for these complaints. However more doctors are comfortable about the medication for teenagers because of the breakdown in restraint of all kinds in the community and the likelihood that a teenage girl will already be experiencing sexual activity. The Pill is therefore considered by the doctor 'as a precaution.'

Although surveys show that many women have taken it for many years, even from the age of 12, and often without any serious side effects, it is usually only a matter of time before there is a potential development of severe health disturbances. These include heart disease, stroke, depression, headaches, infertility, thrombosis, cancer and breast cancer in particular. It is a serious medical issue of our times. Many consider the so called benefits of oral contraceptives are beginning to be outweighed by the demonstration that extreme health problems, in particular mental conditions and cancer, are a direct result of the birth control pill.

Most teenagers have a short term perception of a future and cannot consider that anything negative will develop from anything that they choose to undertake or become involved with. Very few of them have the wisdom to use restraint therefore, and are easy prey to the temptations offered by their peers. This seems to be most commonly in matters of drugs and sexual experimentation.

Therefore it is a difficult argument to try to use in getting them to change, if your feel that their behavior is in error. However in the serious matters related to health and to sexual activity, there must be strong encouragement from the home front to counter the pull of peer pressure that entices them to venture prematurely into the hazardous area that by nature is designed to produce babies.

A teenager with a baby is not the ideal situation, although it may happen often enough. The main thing is surely to be observant but not threatening in your caring of your daughters and in learning the wisdom how to approach your sons so that both become responsible adults.

Good luck!

Abortion Pill : The Progestin-Only Birth Control Pills

Abortion Pill

Definition of progestin-only birth control method

The Progestin-only birth control pill is the one kind of oral contraceptive method. Generally, progestin-only contraceptive pill is known as “mini-pill.” Usually other oral contraceptives have two types of female hormones, one is estrogen and other is progestin. This “mini-pill” contains only Progestin hormone in its constitution and therefore it has no side-effects which can be caused due to estrogen hormone.

Progestin-only birth control pill’s working method

The “mini pill” or Progestin-only birth control pill does 3 things. First is like other contraceptive pills, the mini pill stops your ovary from releasing an egg. The second is it creates some changes in uterus, so that your uterus does not provide hospitality for pregnancy whether egg has been released or not. The third is the progestin-only birth control pill makes the mucus thicker between the vagina and uterus. The vagina, the female’s sex organ, behaves like a tube through which the sperm travel to the uterus. So because of thick mucus the sperm have hard time to pass to reach to the egg.

The progestin-only pill is better then regular birth control pills.

The progestin-only contraceptive pill would not alter the quality and quantity of your breast milk. So the “mini pill” is better than regular hormonal contraceptive pills if you are breastfeeding. This mini-pill is quite safer for the women above 35. Even this “mini pill” is safer for the women who are addicted of smoking and suffering from high blood pressure or blood-clotting problem. The other hormonal contraceptive pills are not suitable for some women as they have side-effects like headaches or stomach related problem. With the use of mini pill this problem might not be occurred.

Chances of getting pregnant while using Progestin-only pills

Not all the birth control methods are perfect, though you use them properly. Average two or three women out of hundred can get pregnant, even they use the “mini pill” in the approved manner. Thus the chances are as same as with the usage of regular contraceptive pills. But both kind of hormonal contraceptive pills are quite better at avoiding the pregnancy.

Disadvantages of Progestin-only contraceptive pill

No contraceptive methods are hundred percent perfect. Every contraceptive has advantages and disadvantages. There are some chances of bleeding during the periods after you begin taking the mini-pills and this may continue for a few months. This situation can be tiresome, but there is no health risk. The bleeding will stop most probably if you keep taking the pills after a couple of months. But if it seems to be heavy or if it makes you to worry then you should consult your doctor.

The other aspect of this “mini pill” makes you hungry more frequently, this can affect on your eating habits and it may cause weight gain. The side effect will stay only for the time you are taking the pills.

In the conclusion the progestin-only birth control pill also does not protect you form the sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). So the progestin-only pills are safer then other contraceptive pills.

Abortion Pill : Is Your Birth Control Pill Effective in Controlling Pregnancy?

Abortion Pill

There are different types of birth control methods such as oral contraceptives or birth control pills, spermicides, condoms, sterilization, and intra uterine devices. However, one of the most commonly used methods to prevent unwanted pregnancies is the birth control pill. These pills are to be consumed orally and they are available in a pack of 21 or 28 pills. They can also be consumed by women who are breast feeding.

The birth control pill is a synthetic form of progesterone and estrogen. If the estrogen levels are high in the body, the ovaries do not release the eggs and hence, no fertilization takes place. The pills have an efficiency of 99.7 percent and are said to be very effective in preventing pregnancy.

These pills have to be taken at the same time every day till the entire pack is over. In case one forgets to take the pill one day, it should be taken as soon as one remembers and just one pill should be taken. They are very easily available, can be purchased without prescription. In addition, they are not very expensive.

However, there are many different brands of pills that are available and it is advisable to consult your doctor before you start using them. These effects of pills are very quickly reversible and hence, when you wish to get pregnant, all you need to do is stop taking them.

Though these birth control pills are very effective in preventing pregnancy, same can not be said for sexually transmitted diseases. They do not offer any protect against STDs and STIs.

Abortion Pill : Pregnancy Test and Birth Control

Abortion Pill

If you had an intercourse and suspect that you are pregnant then there are ways to know the actual situation by a Pregnancy Test. A Pregnancy Test checks for a special hormone, human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG), in the urine or the blood. Its presence in the urine or blood indicates that the woman is pregnant. The hormone is also called the pregnancy hormone.

There are two types of pregnancy test, out of which one tests the blood and the other checks the urine for the pregnancy hormone. If you want to check it at home you can do a urine test at home. But if you want to have your blood tested then you have to visit the doctor.

These days’ women do the Test at home as they are inexpensive, private and easy to use. Urine tests tell you in about 2 weeks after ovulation if you are pregnant. While some urine claims that they can tell about the pregnancy just in a day if you are pregnant as early as one day after the missed period.

The Home pregnancy test can be accurate if they are used properly. If the kits are used according to the directions and if the expiry date is checked they turn out to be accurate. You should also know how to use them and when to you use them.

Birth control as we all know is a method to prevent pregnancy. It helps you to decide when to have a child. There are different forms of birth controls. Each has its own pros and cons. It is necessary to know about all the methods that prevent you from being pregnant and at the same time giving you protection. These methods are used before you have sex. But when you have sex and come to know that you are pregnant then Emergency Pills can help you prevent pregnancy even after the sexual intercourse. They help you when an alternative birth control method fails to prevent pregnancy.

Pregnancy can be prevented even after the intercourse by taking the Emergency Contraceptives pills (EC). These pills give the body a short high, bursts of synthetic that disrupts hormone patterns needed for pregnancy. EC is used within 120 hours after the intercourse and is most effective within 24 hours. This is not an abortion pill. It does not let your pregnancy go away if you are already pregnant.

The pill is also known as the “Morning After” pill or as post-coital contraception, the emergency pill works within three days of unprotected sex to prevent pregnancy. The levels of progestin are higher than other birth control pills in Emergency Pills.
Although the Emergency pills prevent pregnancy up to 75% they do not protect against the reproductive tract infection and HIV/AIDS. The emergency pill is not effective if it is taken more than three days. The sooner it is taken the more effective it is.

Estrogen- containing EC is safe for women but the hormones can increase the risk for developing blood clots. Emergency Contraceptives reduce the likelihood of becoming pregnant but do not protect against sexually transmitted diseases.

Abortion Pill : Should You Consider Abortion?

Abortion Pill

Abortion is one of those topics that never come to end. It is a subject that sparks many emotions and people never agree. Today more and more people are speaking out in regard to abortion. Many opinions will have your mind spin as you explore what your stand is, on abortion. First, let us know exactly what it is. According to the Oxford dictionary, it is the expulsion of a fetus from a womb, before it is able to survive. We all agree on what it is; however, we never agree to do it or not to do it.

Abortion has been accepted by many countries of the west. However, even in places where democracy reigns, there is no absence of controversy. In the United States, many have embraced the rights of a mother to choose to terminate a pregnancy.

The church has been known to make their stand very clear on abortion. Among many other church leaders, Rod parsley the founder of Centre for Moral Clarity has been on the front line against abortion. According to him, killing a fetus is a sin. Statistics have shown that, in the United States over 3,700 abortions are performed by abortionists each day.

Reading through a testimonial, a 24 year old woman had a termination of pregnancy done at 18. According to her, the decision could not have been better. She was able to do the things she wanted like finishing college.

Clearly, many people seem to have gained from abortion. This act is associated with trauma; the trauma comes inform of regret of the deed. There are many reasons why many people choose not to have the children they have conceived. First, ladies might feel unprepared for the responsibility. This is taking into consideration financial implications. Other women do it out of fear. Their partners may also push them. to do it. There are many ladies who have terminated pregnancy as a result of rape.

A doctor will recommend it, when an expectant mother is in danger of losing her life and that of the baby. When you think about it, it is not easy to fall on one side. A lot of issues are involved and each case is different. In the United States 52% of all abortions are performed by girls below 25 years. Increased sexual activity in young people is one of the major causes of the unplanned pregnancy. This being just a tip of the topic, there is so much more to think about as long as the name abortion continues to exist.

Women who are mentally unstable may also go for abortion. If you are a lady grappling with the thought of abortion, you need to take time and really think of implications. First it is vital to establish whether it is legal or illegal in your country or state. The other thing it is safety. In the developing world, 70% of all back street abortions cause some form of complication or infection. Before you act, think of your emotional health. Are you strong enough to stand by what you believe? If you lack the finances to bring up the child, think about people who can help.

In many countries there are agencies that are set up by the government or NGO's to facilitate adoption and to assist young mothers. Consider talking to somebody before you act. Talk to people who you can trust to guide you in the right way. Choose people with a moral authority to advice. After you have considered the above, it all depends on your decision. Whatever you choose, stand by it.

Abortion Pill : Morning After Mania

Abortion Pill

Forget the threat of terrorism…the price of gas…or the struggle for families to make the monthly mortgage payments.

No, the issue on the minds of many newspaper editorial writers is whether women can get pills.

At a time when some medical experts are wondering whether our population is, in fact, over-medicated, a number of editorial boards are demanding that the so-called morning-after pill be offered over the counter to women who have regrets about their sexual encounters of the night before.

Even if you don’t buy the notion that the morning-after pill can end an innocent human life—or even if you don’t care if it does—you should at least care about what impact easy access to this post-coital pill could have on women’s health.

Any woman who has taken the traditional birth control pill knows that there are possible side effects—everything from the possibility of stroke to weight gain. The idea that it’s A-OK for women to ingest “Plan B” without ever expecting to encounter any negative health effects is ludicrous.

Planned Parenthood, the largest purveyor of abortions in America, issued a statement claiming that Plan B “holds the potential for improving women’s health if the FDA keeps its word this time” and permits over-the-counter access.

But the fact of the matter is that the morning-after pill is actually playing Russian Roulette with women’s health.

As Concerned Women for America—a group which has more female support than the radical National Organization for Women—has stated, “The prescription process protects women’s health.”

At a time when the Food and Drug Administration has been forced to re-examine the safety of the abortion pill RU-486, it seems odd to throw caution to the wind and remove some of the regulatory protections that could prevent women from being hurt by the morning-after pill.

A number of individuals have also pointed out that Plan B promotes promiscuity. Promiscuity leads to sexually-transmitted diseases which pose a serious threat to the health of young women. It is irresponsible for the leaders of the abortion lobby and the news media to promote non-prescription use of a drug that could conceivably cause our STD rates to soar.

And then there’s the key question of enforcement. You can say that the drug will only be marketed and sold to those women over age 18, but any clever teenager who knows how to lobby an older sibling or friend to buy cigarettes or booze for her will easily gain access to Plan B. And what’s to say that teen girls will not start binging on morning-after pills, once they become as common as KitKats on drug store shelves?

As Concerned Women’s Wendy Wright stated, “The person who buys the drug is not necessarily the person who will take the drug. What the FDA would have to consider is a foolproof plan to keep proxies from buying the drug and giving it to adolescents.”

And let’s be clear—those proxies could include sexual predators trying to exploit teenage girls.

And let’s be clear on another point: There’s plenty of evidence to suggest that the drive for over-the-counter sales of the morning-after pill are part of the abortion lobby’s propaganda campaign. The lobby knows that public support for contraception is much higher than public support of abortion—hence, its insistence on calling the morning-after pill “emergency contraception.”

But, one has to wonder—If groups such as Planned Parenthood are in the business of family planning, why would there be millions of emergencies requiring a pill to resolve? What Planned Parenthood is really promoting is irresponsibility, carelessness, and, in the end, surgical abortion.

Because, if a woman still finds herself pregnant after taking the morning-after pill, she’ll be lured into thinking that the only solution to her problem is to abort her baby the old-fashioned way.

And so the manipulation and exploitation of American women continue.

Abortion Pill : Four Methods Of Abortion For You To Choose From

Abortion Pill

Varied methods are used by a doctor to terminate a pregnancy. Abortion is induced via a chemical or surgical procedure. The method of abortion chosen is directly related to the stage of pregnancy- early weeks, first trimester (term of 3 months), or second trimester - and the pregnant woman's preference.

(1) The chemical method simply means giving abortifacient (substance to bring about abortion) drugs to the patient concerned. This method of abortion is given preference over the surgical one by the mother-to-be. The drug administered is called the 'abortion pill'. Two oral drugs known as mifepristone and misoprostol are combined for the procedure. Also called RU-486, mifepristone puts a halt to the activity of the body's progesterone. As a result, the embryo separates from the uterus and bleeding takes place. Once this begins, misoprostol (one dose) is advised. The tablet induces uterine contractions, thus expelling the unborn fetus.

This method of abortion can be adopted only within the first 2 months of pregnancy in spite of being 95% effective and very safe in nature. In rare cases, the patient may need to end the treatment with a surgical procedure.

(2) Where surgical procedures are concerned, three methods of abortion are possible for terminating the pregnancy during the first three months of pregnancy. They are:

    (a) After the cervix is dilated, the embryo is scraped off the walls of the uterus with the aid of a curette (sharp instrument). This is called Dilation and Curettage. (b) Another method is MVA (Manual Vacuum Aspiration) where after dilating the cervix, the doctor removes the embryonic tissue via a syringe with the help of suction. (c) Similar to the above is Electric Vacuum Aspiration. The syringe is replaced with an electric pump.

(3) There are three choices offered again where termination of pregnancy during the second trimester is concerned:

    (a) The first method of abortion is D&E or Dilation and Evacuation. After dilating the cervix, the uterine walls are scraped with instruments. Finally, the embryonic tissue is removed with the help of suction. (b) Another method is Hysterotomy or surgical incision of the uterus (similar to cesarean section), where the aborted fetus is removed. (c) Intact Dilation and Extraction or Partial Birth Abortion is still under some controversy. The cervix is dilated. A forceps is used to reverse the fetus into a breech position. A suction device is inserted into the fetus' skull after a cut is made at its base. The device evacuates the brain tissue present inside.

(4) Though there is another method of abortion, which was very popular till the time anesthetics and surgery were invented, that is, the 19th century, it is neither advocated nor approved by the medical fraternity. This is the herbal method of abortion and is generally considered unsafe. So maybe it would be wiser to stay away from it altogether.
